Wholesome Detox

For a long time, I had been feeling the need for a detox day. I make sure to have fruits and vegetables in my daily diet but I wanted a light cleansing day to feel the freshness and peace I had not  felt in a while.

So today, I   prepared some easy to make meals and juices which I would like to share with you.

As my alarm buzzed at 7:10 a.m. today, I stepped out of the bed and went for a peaceful session of yoga followed by meditation.  This was followed by water and Aloe Vera and Gooseberry juice shots.

  1. Twisty Fruit Smoothie (without yogurt)

The third meal consisted of

  • 1 Kinnow
  • 2 Oranges
  • ½ Beetroot
  • ½ pomegranate

The juice has a high amount of Vitamin C along with the heart healthy benefits of lycopene .

  1. Coconut Water

Coconut water is mother nature’s engery drink that replenishes the body with electrolytes, provides potassium. It is cholesterol free and improves digestion.

  1. Lycopene magic Juice

Lycopene being my  favourite antioxidant had to have a special place in today’s plan. The juice consisted of

  • ½ Beetroot
  • 1 tomato
  • 1 big red carrot
  • 1 apple

Lycopene is a powerful antioxidant that cleanses the body of free radicals, lowers body pressure, prevents cardiovascular diseases and macular degeneration( macula is a part of the routine in the eye).  This juice will increase red blood cells and polyphenols in the apple are great for preventing and curing the effects of inflammation and oxidation.

  1. Vegetable soup

The vegetable soup consisted of Carrots, baby corns, cabbage, beans, zucchini, and capsicum boiled in water with some added flavours of Italian seasoning, salt, black pepper, red pepper. Drizzle a little lemon on the soup. Zucchini is brilliant vegetable with high amounts of water, potassium, Omega-3 faty acids, Vitamin A, zince, and protein to name a few.

I ended the day with Aloe Vera and Gooseberry juice shots. Since, I had to go for a morning run the next day I ate half chapati along with a bowl of mixed dal in the evening say around 6:00 p.m.

Note :1. Eat the meals in every 2-3 hours gap.

2. You can have seeds and nuts in other meals as well apart from the bowl bowl. They are a great way to gain energy and essential monounsaturated fats.

3.Drink ample of water. I had 2 litres of water.

Make some detox water for the detox day.Add half cucumber ,One lemon, and mint leaves to a jar of water and keep it for 7 hours( overnight) in the refrigerator. You can add other fruits of your choice too like strawberries, kiwi, orange,  and apple etc.

IMG_20170304_175021_134You can have it in between meals. Infused water is super refreshing in taste, provides nutrients of the fruits and leaves, and you can eat the fruits in it as well. Isn’t that awesome? Getting nutrients while hydrating yourself. Eating the fruits and vegetables in it will help you stay full till the next meal.

P.S. :  The purpose of detox is to relax your body that is why it includes light food throughout the day so that your stomach has to do less work while digesting the food. Combine it with meditation, less use of phone, yoga for a relaxed experience.

Your body continuously tries to keep up with your needs, it’s important for you to keep up with it too and give it a relaxed day. Go completely easy on it.

If you want a complex carb meal, you can have a bowl of khichdi with smooth consistency.

Once you’re over with the day, you’d be much more relaxed and peaceful.

I was so happy that I have been drinking infused water ever since.

Stay holistically healthy!
